Trifecta moon event over Lake Tahoe
South Shore resident John Gomez captured the lunar trifecta this week in a series of photos.
He shot them from the top of Kingsbury Grade.
The Jan. 31 full moon was the second of the month, making it a blue moon. It was also a supermoon, meaning it was at its closest point to the Earth. Then there was a total lunar eclipse, known as a blood moon.
The next time all three will happen at once again will be in 2037. The previous occurrence was in 1982.

I would love to get a print of John’s photos (3 & 4 in particular). Anyway we can contact him?
