Tahoe athletes inducted into ski hall of fame

Three Tahoe area athletes were inducted into the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame this month.

The locals were:

·      Six-time X Games gold medalist Shaun Palmer of South Lake Tahoe.

·      Steve McKinney, a legendary world-record speed skier from Squaw Valley. He was honored posthumously.

·      Hermann Gollner, a skiing pioneer and coach at Sugar Bowl and Squaw Valley.

The five other inductees were ski mountaineering brothers Michael and Steven Marolt of Aspen; world freestyle champion Ed Ferguson of Washington; U.S. cross country coach Marty Hall; and U.S. Ski Team trustee and foundation leader Thom Weisel.
