Utility worker found dead in vehicle in EDC

The death of a security service employee whose vehicle was found submerged in water near a Sacramento Municipal Utility District powerhouse in El Dorado County is under investigation.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by security service personnel about 11:15pm Tuesday regarding a distress call from one of their employees near the SMUD powerhouse on Peavine Ridge Road, east of Pollock Pines. The employee reported his vehicle was in the river at an unspecified location, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
