Then and now: Architectural improvements
The two-story grey building on Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe collapsed in 2005 when it was hit by a truck. The red “Trader” building was razed soon after.
At the same parcel today is more modern looking structure that has a bit of a mountain theme. It fits in with the natural environment better compared to what was there.

Morning Bill, I’d forgotten about the truck meets building episode. It looks much better now. A big improvement. Congratulations to the owners for making it look so much better, it looks ” , more “Tahoe”.
That old red strip of shops behind it has some history to. Lots of businesses have come and gone there.
Larry’s A-1 auto repair,a computer repair place, a car stero place and a thrift store at the very back of the property selling used clothes and things. That building belonged to a family named Benavauto (maybe wrong spelling of the family name). That building has been here a long time.
Enjoy the snow!!! OLS
Thanks for another historical event.
