camp rich• The final of the three-part Camp Richardson Snowshoe Cocktail Races is set for March 21 at 7pm.

• Learn about paid, intensive community service work through AmeriCorps. There will be a meeting March 10 at noon in the student center at Lake Tahoe Community College.

• Fire Prevention Fee bills for fiscal year 2014-15 are being mailed to more than 700,000 rural Californians, many of whom are receiving a bill for the fourth time. Information on how to appeal is available online.

• Maralana Fulton will talk about Motivating to Wellness, which focuses on the importance of motivation and support in achieving healthy living goals, on March 18 from 6-7pm at Elevated Fitness, 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Suite 8, South Lake Tahoe. The workshop is free for Tahoe Regional & Young Professional members and $5 for non-members.

• Mike Pegram, owner of the Carson Valley Inn, bought Sharkey’s late last year and plans to reopen it in April.

    Why is it taking so long for the Howard Jarvis group, along with Senator Ted Gaines and Assemblyman Frank Bigelow, to get this illegal fire tax repealed and our money refunded ?

    Does anyone know what’s going into the purple building (“Romantic Adventures”) across from Denny’s? I’ve seen people working in there. I also saw someone repainting the handicapped parking spaces at the vacant Dragon Buffet building across from Grocery Outlet. Any news there?
