South Shore ready for annual fireworks

image_pdfimage_print

Lights on the Lake, the largest Fourth of July fireworks display in the west, will fill South Shore’s night sky for 25 minutes.

Now in its 34th year, the holiday tradition is synchronized to a soundtrack of familiar songs by pop legends and from music acts that will be at Harveys this summer. It is simulcast on KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL-AM 1490.

The show starts at 9:45pm.

So now the fireworks are an advertisement for harveys ? Typical stateline baloney.

Yes. Even though it is being broadcast from Ski Run Marina

Is Ski Run Marina paying for the fireworks show? If not-quit the 1%er whining-you’ll still make beaucoups $$$

The fireworks are being paid for Nevada side TOT taxes. Nothing is being paid by entity on the California side. So I am not sure why anyone would complain, as we are getting free entertainment

Thank you Reloman for the clarification.

Mr TeaTotal, I hope to God that you and many like you will do very well, pay lots of taxes, create many jobs and make this city more beautiful. America still makes it possible. America needs for you to become better off.

Like you I do not pay for the fireworks. I paid to have the beach cleaned so that you do not step on a bottle cap. I will pay for ten Porta potties for public use and clean the bathrooms and the beach afterwards. Glad to do it. I would love it if you were so kind as to either not leave trash on the beach or help clean it up the next day. But whatever you do I hope you enjoy yourself. Happy Fourth of July from a grateful immigrant.

It’s getting pretty deep here !
I am looking forward to the fireworks on the lake, they are truly spectacular , and bring thousands of visitors to the lake !
sadly some of them think that the ever expanding beach areas are garbage dumps and leave crap everywhere , as I have witnessed at Ski Run Marina,
It’s people like Elie that provide for the influx of visitors that help to make it so wonderful. This is a tourist based economy so welcome our visitors with open arms and perhaps educate them as to simple sanitation.
Remember when 50 was closed after the mudslide, the town was shriveling.
Best thing we can do is provide trash cans on the beaches and make it convenient to deposit trash instead of carrying it home.
See you on the Lake Cpt Kiwi Steve.

How did bankrupt Harveys/ Caesars Corp. arrange to make the firework show about them? If it’s a NV side funding issue, shouldn’t Montbleu & Hard Rock also be included?

Have those two casinos laid off anywhere near as many locals as Harrah’s/Harveys has these last couple years?

Heck, the LTVA kisses up to the company, but did you see the recent LTN/Fortune story where the CEO of a 50% stakeholder in the company was so anxious to disassociate himself from Caesars thar he threw his big birthday bash, with the millions spent on it, at a rival (Wynn) Vegas casino.

Parker: They paid for it. You can make it about you.

‘If’ Harrah’s/Harveys paid for the fireworks, you are correct Moral Hazard. However, I believe the TDVA pays for the fireworks.

A significant portion of, but not all, of their funding is generated from Harrah’s/Harveys. But Montbleu & Hard Rock also generate TDVA funding and also bring music into town.
