Figuring out whom to trust for nutritional advice can be a daunting task; new findings on everything from the dangers of sugar to the health benefits of leftover pasta seem to come out every day, and the “experts” behind them often have ulterior motives.

According to a report released this week, even venerable nutritional science organizations and the journals they publish can’t be trusted.

Public health lawyer Michele Simon explores how corporate interests influence the findings of one of these research organizations: the American Society for Nutrition. The nearly 90-year-old nonprofit, comprising 5,000 scientists and experts, publishes theAmerican Journal of Clinical Nutrition and claims to “bring together the world’s top researchers, clinical nutritionists and industry to advance our knowledge and application of nutrition for the sake of humans and animals.”

But according Simon, the group’s coziness with corporate sponsors calls its research into question.

Why just pick on the ASN? The American Heart Association sells its seal of approval to Co-Co Puffs.

The center for science in the public interest is a bunch of vegetarians who who sold their souls to the corn lobby.

Most vegetarians I know eschew corn, for a number of reasons.

What are those reasons, Hmmm? I’d like to know.

difficult to digest, cows, hfcs, monsanto(gmo in order to withstand pesticides), creates an omega 3:6 imbalance, gub’mint subsidies for growing it, space aliens planted corn on the planet to make us tasty for them, corn wants to take away my guns, foie gras

on the positive side…on a still night you CAN hear corn growing.

    Hmmm,
LOL!! The space aliens part is SOOO true! Look how much fatter the population has gotten just since they started putting high fructose corn syrup in everything.
And corn can take away my gun over my cold, dead (probably from diabetes) body!

It’s no surprise that in ‘MIB’ Edgar was a farmer and in ‘Signs’ the aliens were using cornfields for cover.

Five years ago the vast majority of doctors and scientists all agreed that a bowl of whole grain cereal with non-fat milk a banana and a slice of whole grain toast with promises margarine was a healthy breakfast.

They all bought into the BS saturated fat is evil story.

This is one of the reasons I don’t buy into the man made global warming hysteria.

The same doctors, scientists, universities and old hippies had a hand in killing millions of Americans.

The current (affordable) cholesterol tests are a sad joke.

Follow the spin to see the money…when you have research being done(or reviewed) by colleagues of those who sit on boards of directors of major agribusiness corporations such as monsanto, carghill, etc. of course they will tell you that **** on a shingle is healthy if slathered in enough bacon grease and nitrates. It’s all about lobby leverages and undermining the FDA. I’ve heard deep fried butter sticks are all the rage…and they’re really not that bad for you IF you wash it down with a (fake)strawberry milkshake that’s been modified to not drip.

On a culture note, I just love those Carl’s Juniors burgerporn commercials where they have the bikiniclad model knobslobbing a 6inch thick groundmeatslab… and they edit it so she doesn’t get any grease, mayo and ketchup(beeftorum?) on her face whilst goo goo eyeing through the camera to you, the viewer while a he-manly bigtruck voice over oozes patriotic drivel.

No kidding, corporate lobbyists influencing a gov’t agency that is supposed to monitor them? Like saying TRPA is guided by real estate developers.

Three years ago I tripled my saturated fat intake and cut my carb intake to 100 grams or less per day.

I went from 217 lbs to just over 180, sugar level went from 345 to 108, blood pressure was 200 now 150 (still working on that one) combined cholesterol 274 now 199 and dropping.

To hell with the whole grain goodness and vegetable oil people.

sunriser: How long did it take you to go from 217 to 180? Good job!! Impressive numbers.

  12. sunriser2 says - Posted: June 19, 2015

    Thanks Kits,

It took over a year but I stopped smoking at the same time. The only vice is alcohol Michelob Ultra 2.6 grams of carbs and a shot of vodka has zero carbs. If I can do it anyone can. I was a carb addict.

Also started light to medium exercise routine and ski a lot.

100 grams a day is doable.
