The photo above may look vaguely familiar to TV viewers. It is Bourne’s Meadow between Round Hill Pines and Marla Bay. For several seasons it was the opening scenery for TV’s long-running “Bonanza”, showing the Cartwrights galloping toward the camera.

Click this link to see that meadow as filmed for TV in 1961.

Bill K ,The Bourne meadow has always been beautiful. Great views of the lake and the mountains on the west shore.
Mr Bourne’s lakefront house was pretty nice. For a time it had a pool that was in back of the house in yhe parking area, you swam underneith a walkway and then you were swimming into an indoor pool in the living room where he had a slot machine.
The Bourne family were heirs to the Singer Sewing Machine company which at the time was producing all kinds of things and it was a very profitable business.

Isn’t there a large house down there on the lake front now, which is hidden by the willow bushes? So not as good as before.

We need more lake views for the public.

The Conservancy did a great thing when they bought and removed the two story building on H50 across from Bank of America in SLT giving the public more lake views and access. The public needs more open views and access to the lake.

And we tax payer need to cough up.

In that same area along H50 down to El Dorado Beach Commons trees need to be thinned and trimmed so the lake view stays open. Hopefully the city could do that without too much political trouble.
