I sure am glad that bond money was approved for LTCC; they seem to be putting it to good use! Not only did the President get a raise, I heard the Deans also received a $10,000 bonus, pay increase, and the faculty are getting a 6% increase this year, followed by a 2% last year.

  2. local2 says - Posted: July 2, 2015

And what does she offer to receive such a lofty raise?
I willing to bet the employee’s below her work much harder for much less. It’s just the way it is, I’m sure she spends it quite foolishly since it’s a free given!
Have all you noticed out there noticed out tax dollars in relationship with STPUD and School bonds, etc., we take it up the you know what and they laugh all the way to the bank.

  3. TeaTotal says - Posted: July 2, 2015

local2-your comment is beyond bizarre-if there was ever a good argument for quality education, your complete ignorance of LTCC’s value to our community makes that case.

  4. AROD says - Posted: July 2, 2015

Where is the new roof for LTCC? All I read about are pay raises. Low enrollment, class offerings being reduced. If you can bambozzle the public into voting for a bad bond measure you get a raise. Outrageous!

  5. Sam says - Posted: July 2, 2015

It’s a bond measure AROD! You know that means that over years they will acquire $55 million. How misinformed are people?

The raises have been a long time coming. LTCC is one of the lowest paying community colleges in the state. To compete they need to get raises. THE RAISES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BOND MEASURE….Ya’ll are spreading bad information.

Linda–2% raise doesn’t even cover inflation. RAH, where are you people from? Mars?

  6. Chief Slowroller says - Posted: July 2, 2015

    everybody needs a pay raise.

this Lady is not worth that kind of money.

she sucks up to the Ya-Hoo’s behind the curtain.

the College is falling apart remember?

  7. Kenny (Tahoe Skibum) Curtzwiler says - Posted: July 2, 2015

Now that they have the money to fix the facilities they are doing it backwards. They are talking about fixing the inside before the roof. Fix the roof first or you will lose everything that you put inside. Hire a local contractor as we know not only the specific rules up here but we have worked in snow country before.

  8. RK says - Posted: July 2, 2015

Having worked at the college for several years it is pretty demoralizing the Pres gets a 12.5% raise when all others don’t even come close.

  9. Linda says - Posted: July 2, 2015

Really, Sam? Isn’t LTCC one of the smallest of the California Community Colleges with the lowest enrollment? Your faculty have a much smaller workload than most and still get sabbaticals every five years (needed or not). Seems like they are paid accurately to me!

There sure are a lot of whiners out there who are jealouse that there are people who make a living at being the president of a community college. These professionals have education, experience and have put in their time to get where they are. If you want that for yourself than get off your ass and achieve it. Its what happens to people who are in this type of profession. If all you can do is whine because they make a great living here while others make minimum wage, well, why arent you applying for these jobs? Oh ya, because you have to have experience and an education. Congrats to the educators and college staff for your achievements.

  11. Elvis says - Posted: July 2, 2015

The President at Ohio State University makes over $1 million a year. You all are barking up the wrong tree.

How about that gasoline tax reduction?

  12. Sam says - Posted: July 2, 2015

Really LINDA it takes money to attract talent who can create new programs that are attractive. How can a college get anyone of any substance if they under pay by half of what other colleges do?

Now Linda you said the college is “putting the bond measure to good use” insinuating that the bond money is going to raises. Prove it! Your completely wrong. They don’t even have the money yet! It’s a 30 year bond. Have you read the bond measure? Or are you just busy parroting your sophomoric friends?

  13. LeanForward says - Posted: July 2, 2015

Chief Slowroller I find your comment despicable. You couldn’t be more wrong.

Kindred has so many impressive accomplishments. Let’s list a few of the more notable ones shall we?

    -PHD in Organizational Leadership
    -Got measure F passed
-Courting UC Davis to occupy the soon to be built University Center
-Has worked her way up the ladder with over 15 years of college administration experience under her belt.
-Mayor of The Town of Yucca Valley
-Council member to The Town of Yucca Valley
-Field representative from the Third District Supervisor in San Bernadino County

She’s a wonderful lady. LTCC is lucky to have her. She is an amazing leader. If she is successful with her vision for LTCC, all of us will benefit.

  14. Linda says - Posted: July 2, 2015

The college has had great leaders, starting with the first two presidents. The money was good enough for them and we have to keep in perspective, we are a small town. Being awarded millions in bond money and before any improvements are made, throw money at salaries? This really stinks from my viewpoint. Sam, you must be a faculty member or someone who works at the college;I think I’ve hit a chord with you, very defensive! Yes, I’ve read it and “parroting your sophomoric friends” you really do sound like faculty – demeaning as usual.

  15. Sam says - Posted: July 2, 2015

No Linda I’m not. Just a first hand person who benefited from junior college. Junior college was the only reason I was able to get my bachelor degree. With out them, people like me would fall through the cracks of society. I feel passionately about education, knowing what a boon it has been for me. Kindred is deserving of that money. She’s worked hard to get where she is today. She is killing it at the college. Measure F is a huge gold star on her tenure as president. (even if all the rednecks in town hate it)

Again, I guess you just don’t get it. The bond money has nothing to do with the raises. You seem to not understand that. Unfortunate timing considering all the conspiracy theorists in town. People behind the curtain and what not. Dribble.

And no the last leader of LTCC was terrible. Dr. Paul T. Killpatrick didn’t believe in STEM! He did WAY more harm than good.

You know what this town has way too much of? People who spread bad information. That’s what is upsetting Linda.

  16. Elvis says - Posted: July 3, 2015

Well said Sam. Especially the bit about too many people spreading bad information.

  17. Steven says - Posted: July 3, 2015

    Sam, what is STEM ?

  18. Sam says - Posted: July 3, 2015

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education.

  19. nature bats last says - Posted: July 3, 2015

Sam, well said. I find it annoying that people put down others who have done so well in their chosen field and are being rewarded for their accomplishments. Its just jealousy. those whiners dont get it that some people choose to work hard to get where they are. Sitting on their butts being snarky on a blog isnt gonna get those folks anywhere.

  20. Bill Swim says - Posted: July 3, 2015

I see yearly tax increases and when I read the local news all I see are raises. LTCC you tell me why I shouldn’t be upset, you can make up all the “we deserve” reasons you want. Actions speak louder than words. Enjoy….at my expense.

From lieutenants to lemmings, all feeding at the public trough, every day checking on their taxpayer guaranteed pensions, essentially a childcare assignment.

  22. Mr mustache says - Posted: July 3, 2015

We have been hosed. Once again.

  23. hmmm... says - Posted: July 3, 2015

Reading some of the negative comments here, the maxim “if you think education is expensive, try ignorance” comes to mind. Those of you who don’t see the value of investing in education and educators, please feel free to move to Syria, Texas, Kansas or some other extremist stronghold diligently working for a return to the Dark Ages.
