A double amputee is set to swim 12 miles across Lake Tahoe towing his 11-year-old son in a kayak for charitable cause on July 12 beginning at 9:30am.

Harry Boucher, 44, of Turlock will be swimming to raise awareness for the need to have more accessibility for children and adults with disabilities via nonprofit organizations like the Society for Disabilities, which helps establish Miracle League baseball fields for disabled children and playgrounds, including adaptive swings for disabled children.

He will start at Sand Harbor and plans to finish at Skylandia Beach near Tahoe City.

Boucher contracted meningitis at 18 months old, resulting in the amputation of his feet.
