Editorial: Gun control tactic hard to shoot down
Publisher’s note: This editorial is from the July 20, 2015, Las Vegas Sun.
Aside from picking office holders, Nevada voters next year will have the opportunity to help keep guns out of the wrong hands.
Granted, we can’t always identify “the wrong hands” because many crimes are committed in the passion of the moment by first-time gun-wielders who might not fit the profile of a gunman-in-waiting.
But as a society, we at least can try to weed out those people who, on the face of it, shouldn’t be allowed to carry a weapon. It’s an obvious group: felons, domestic abusers and the mentally ill who have been identified by the state as having been committed involuntarily to a mental health institution or deemed a danger to themselves or others.
Somehow, some people will come up with good excuses for felons, domestic abusers and the mentally ill to have weapons too.
Heck, a few months ago, Dogzilla was defending the guys doing Heroin in a parking lot that had their weapons taken.
The gun worship and gun violence in this country is out of controll…sick f2/%I@g human race
So rock are you gonna go to the ghetto and get the guns from the gangbangers?
So amy, when was the last mass shooting in the ghetto?
Amy. I lived through the Watts riots. I used to drive through and work in Whittier, Compton, Lawndale, and Watts; never had a problem. Never went looking for a problem either.
Are the “gang bangers” the ones going into Theaters, Churches, Shopping Centers, Military Bases, Colleges and Elementary Schools shooting young and old alike?
