Nevada to buy up to 2.5 mil. rounds of ammo

Nevada negotiated an option to buy up to 2.5 million rounds of ammunition for state agencies over the next two years, according to documents and interviews with the Nevada Purchasing Division.
State officials made 55 separate requests for ammunition for 9mm pistols, 12-gauge shotguns, semi-automatic rifles and other firearms as part of a solicitation to vendors across the country, according to bidding documents received by sporting good wholesalers.
Officials described the deal as routine, a way to secure cheap rounds for highway patrol, parole and probation, emergency management, wildlife and other state departments. Several counties, including White Pine and Esmeralda, also took part in the bid, purchasing officials said.
Well, there it is: Don’t screw with Nevada.
I wonder if, as a resident, they’ll make me a deal on some 9mm. Surely, with the amounts they’re purchasing, they can spare a few boxes.
The article referred to a homeland security purchase on 1 Billion rounds. Actually in the last 3 years (2013, 2014 and 2015) homeland security has purchased 2 Billion rounds of ammunition. For comparison, during the height of the Iraq war the DOD was using 6 Million rounds per month. 2 Billion rounds for Homeland Security is enough to have fought the Iraq war for almost 28 years. Seems excessive even for a cost savings purchase.
To my redneck shootin’ buddies, color me stupid. You all said that my wanted ammo was running short because the liberal damn government was buyn’ it all up to keep us armed but not dangerous. I’ll be! Hey The Gov. can buy all of my lead bird shoot ’cause the tree huggers won’t let me use it in 2016. Ever think? Behind every blade of grass. We Protect.
GUNS SUCK. I say melt them all down and build art with the repurposed metal.
The ammosexuals deserve respect even if you think they’re deranged over-compensating gunnuts
