No takers for old KMS site despite lower price

Even with a lower price tag, no buyer has come forward to purchase the old Kingsbury Middle School site in Stateline.

The topic was on the Douglas County School District’s board agenda last week.

Superintendent Teri White said the district had anticipated an offer would come forward, but it didn’t materialize. However, she said it’s possible something will happen in the future.

“There has been some interest and we’ve had some inquiries,” White told Lake Tahoe News. “The latest resolution allowed for averaging the two appraisals which brought the price down a little; to $3.125 million.”

DCSD in January 2012 voted to put the 10-acre school on the market with an asking price of $4 million. The buildings encompass 36,000-square-feet.

The item is on a three-month cycle to keep coming back to the board.

Why don’t they turn the property into a trade school? Maybe a cosmotology school and an auto repair school and similar training programs?

    hmmm,
That was hilarious, I love your idea!
Lots of fun could be had there. Just think about it.
Unlimited beer pong contests, party all night in the hot tub making as much noise as ya want, have LIVE bands on the lawn, drag race down the street every time you leave and throw trash everywhere, all with plenty of parking.
Sounds like the makings of a Five Star Resort!

Irish…what a fantastic idea! Why not a satellite school/campus for a University so that we have access to actual BA programs here?

I wish someone would come forward in the realm of education/nonprofits/university foundations to make something like this a reality.

Why not a ballot-initiative or a letter presented to the Douglas Co. Board?

Subee, you do have access. Online learning. Most universities offer many courses that way. Lectures can be skyped. There’s minimal need for a physical campus anymore for a simple B.A.
