A challenge from hard-line conservatives in the House Republican caucus has Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, wondering how he might pass a bill to fund the government ahead of the Sept. 30 deadline.
But one of those conservatives said Wednesday that he’s had enough of the shutdown talk and resigned his membership in a prominent hard-liner group, calling their tactics “counterproductive.”
Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Granite Bay, told the leader of the House Freedom Caucus, which formed in January as a home for about three dozen of the most conservative Republican members, that he had “fervently hoped that it would provide responsible and effective leadership to advance conservative principles in the House of Representatives.”
McClintock cited several points of frustration over instances where Freedom Caucus members broke with GOP leadership on tactics, if not ideology: a late February standoff over funding the Department of Homeland Security, May votes on advancing fast-track trade authority, and last week’s handling of a resolution disapproving of the nuclear deal with Iran.
Planned Parenthood abortions are not funded by the Federal Govt. Federal law prevents govt. funding from going specifically to abortions. Planned Parenthood prevents abortions by providing birth control access to young women that might not otherwise have the ability to obtain it. Further with the millions of abortions that have been performed, crime statistics are at a 40 year low by preventing the birth of unwanted children.
Abortion is legal in this country. Get over it. If you want to change that you need a constitutional amendment.
Republicans stay out of women lives and bodies.
Noel: Stay out of women’s lives and bodies? Catchy phrase until you understand the serious consequences. How do you justify aborting baby girls? More girls are aborted than boys in this country. Don’t they matter too, or must they be fully grown “women” to have rights? When is a person too young or two old, in your opinion, to experience life? And who appointed you and your cohorts to make this decision for them and the rest of us? Do the guarantees of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness only apply adults? There was a time when these rights didn’t apply to slaves and even persons of mixed race, and now we live in a time when people are protecting an industry that has taken more than 50 million tiny lives. That’s 10 million more lives than the entire population of California. If you were born after 1973, one third of your classmates were killed by abortionist. Our country is stained red from the blood of innocents.
Life, get one, and leave women alone to make the choices that they alone should be able to make. I dont want you or your ilk having any say in my reproductive rights.
incentivizing sterilization would be a step toward eliminating this waste-of-energy, waste-of-time dispute. let’s free up resources by cutting population growth and finally address the near-terminal illness that infects our planet’s ecosystem.
Bats wants it both ways? You don’t want the taxpayers to have any say in your reproductive “rights”, but you want them to pay for your choices? How does that work?
And yes, ANY money given to Planned Parenthood by the Federal government frees up funds they can spend on other things, so Federal money IS paying for abortions.
Our taxes murder babies. Pay for your own murders.
why do we need more babies? i resent having to bear the cost of religious doctrine.
Stop imposing the consequences of your books sexual morality on others. Every other civilized nation has moved on and is better off for it.
The hyperbole makes it hard for anyone to try to take you seriously.
-the duke
The GOP’s wet dream is an uneducated, unhealthy, non-voting populace.
And they don’t even make any bones about it!
Who said anything about religion?? Only you folks who are pro-baby murder.
dog doesn’t get it
The hyperbole makes it hard for anyone to try to take you seriously.
Someone else tell them that, third times a charm.
Well guess what dogzilla, i like that planned parenthood exists and helps MILLIONS of women deal with day to day health issues that they would possibly ignore if it wernt for this service. I gladly designate whatever taxes I contribute to our countries ability to provide low cost services to women of all communities because I believe we are all here to help each other. You go right ahead and be hateful, spiteful, and ugly of spirit towards everyone not like you. And go ahead and believe the lies and false videos cuz you obviously cant think for yourself. But thats ok cuz thats who you are. IMHO
The article is about mcclintock being fed up with his parties pettyness and inability to function. It is actually the first time in his whole political career that I agree with his actions. It took alot of guts to tell your peers that they are out of line. He is actually walking his talk IMHO
but I still disagree with him in most other ways.
“pro-baby murder”.
#1-babies can’t turn pro;
#2-it’s not a baby that gets aborted. It is a fetus.
#3-If you are so pro-fetus…why are you so anti-baby and anti-mother? You don’t advocate for quality prenatal care, paid pregnancy leave, mandatory food labeling, laws restricting chemicals in food, water, air. You don’t argue for quality education reform or for the death penalty for anyone who smokes in the presence of a pregnant woman or baby.
You are against corporate responsibility or an increase in the minimum wage.
#4-please address the actions of the military industrial complex when babies or fetus’s are affected by military actions and the pollution caused by their actions.
Or do YOU want it both ways?
The only thing you are ‘pro’ is zero taxes and liberal bashing. Oh…and you get offended far too much for someone who hurls as many insults as you do.
Hell, even your belief that the so called invisible hand of the market regulates things falls apart when it gets grabbed by the feet and smashed up against the wall of the multiplying truths of overpopulation and the stresses created by dwindling resources and technological advances and underemployment.
I am very pro-women’s health. I just don’t see why you need to extort money from people to accomplish that.
And I have no problem with Planned Parenthood existing. But I don’t see why the taxpayer should be extorted to pay for abortions.
As far as your claim that I am anti-prenatal care, anti-labeling, anti-leave, you are stone cold wrong.
I am anti-coercion, anti-MANDATORY ANYTHING. If you and your employer want to do those things, fine. You do them. But using the government to bully your way into getting all your little goodies at someone else’s expense is so wrong.
Force is wrong. What don’t you get about that?
Hmmm, well stated.
she still cant figure it out…
Thinking she needs to go live in a different country that has the type of govmnt she likes(oops, I mean no gvmnt) and get a taste of what she thinks is better than this democracy and how we strive to care for each other here. We would be a better country withouy that hatred…
Wrongula is very pro women’s health-just as long as not one dime of ‘her’ money goes to helping the outcomes of some young woman’s decisions about her personal reproductive choices- like that’s gonna happen w/o some sort of social services-
No matter how many times she tells the absolute LIE about taxpayer funds going to Planned Parenthood for legal abortion services- it’s still teabag pantload nonsense-
if you hate abortion by all means don’t have one- as far as other female members of our society?-mind your own friggin’ business
imagine the problems we would have right now with 50 million unwanted children and adults. You think the prisons are overcrowded now. We might have evolved into a police state under those circumstances, The last time we had too many young people we had an epidemic of juvenile delinquency and those were mostly wanted baby boomers. That is a situation so horrible is sounds like science fiction.
If you want to live in a totalitarian religious state, move to Iran. I am sure the latest Burka fashions will suit you perfectly.
I heard we made Iraq a nice place for expatriate Americans.
Dog, let me try this again so that your arguments can be fact based. Federal money goes to paying for health care services for poor under-served women like pap smears, breast cancer screening, etc. Not one dime is used for legal abortions.
So feel free to make whatever passionate plea you want, just try to be factual.
Rick
When did being “unwanted” become a crime deserving the death penalty? “Crime waves” from unwanted people? Oh man, give me a break. Now I’ve heard everything!
People – Let’s all calm down ……. Republican’s new genius candidate Trump has answers to all of these problems and will make America Great Again …… !!
Dogzilla continues to drink the kool aid and has her head firmly planted in the sand. Go figure…
Rick, let me clear this up for you: when the feds give PP money, it means they don’t have to pay for pap smears and breast cancer screening (which they don’t do ANYWAY!). That frees up the money from other sources to be used for abortions.
Jerry Brown showed you exactly how it’s done with his illegal rural fire fee. All the money that used to come out of the general fund for CalFire was taken away because of the extra fee being charged to the property owners of California. Many people thought it was extra money to cover extra expenses. Nope. It was a shell game. Which is exactly what you’re trying to play when you claim that no federal money goes to abortions.
And you do know that PP does NO mamography at all, right? All they do is refer.
And Bats, as to drinking kool-aid. . . it was actually Flavor Aid. You guys just seem to miss out on the actual details so often. Maybe that’s why you’re the ones drinkin’ it. You have no idea.
Dogzilla, should have been one…
Dog…I have done a little research on the flavor-aid term in the past. Seems that packets of Flavor-aid and Kool Aid were both found at Jonestown, and have been acceptable as terms for ‘blind loyalty to the party line’.
Dog and Life. First of all, since when does the Gubment crawl into a Woman’s body and take over?
Women have been aborting unwanted pregnancies since at least 1700 BC and probably beyond. Why? Mostly because of rape, assault or class, but that does not even matter.
Abortion is about Control, and your ilk will never have that kind of control over Women; this is the 21st Century not the 13th.
As for Planned Parenthood. The organization has been around since 1921 and here is a list of services provided in 820 Centers in 50 States:
Contraceptives
Long-acting reversible contraception
Emergency contraception
Screening for breast, cervical and testicular cancers
Pregnancy testing
Pregnancy options counseling
Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases
Comprehensive sexuality education
Menopause treatments
Vasectomies
Tubal ligations
And yes Abortions, no Federal Money is spent on Abortions, only 3% of all services.
