On Wednesday Epic Rides announced plans to launch the Carson City Off Road, a three-day event that will include single-track riding and racing, a bike expo and music festival.

The event is the result of a five-year agreement between Tucson-based Epic Rides, Carson City and the Carson City Visitors Bureau. The two local entities will cover costs associated with hosting, everything from traffic and crowd control to staging for entertainment. Travel Nevada also contributed a matching grant.

The inaugural event is expected to fill up with 600 riders and, based on experiences with other Epic Rides events, could draw as many as 2,000 by 2021, the end of the contract. It could mean as much as $15 million to the local economy.
