Laws force police to put guns back on the street

By Blake Ellis and Melanie Hicken, CNNMoney

Every year, police officers seize tens of thousands of rifles, shotguns, machine guns and other firearms from criminals across the country. While many agencies destroy these weapons, a growing number of police departments are selling them instead.

And it’s not always by choice.

Since 2009, at least 11 states have passed laws that either encourage or require police departments to sell seized or recovered guns — with some banning police from destroying guns altogether, according to an exclusive CNNMoney analysis of state laws.

Behind this trend are powerful special interests like the National Rifle Association, which argues that the fear of these guns getting into the hands of criminals is “absurd” and part of an anti-gun agenda.

NRA has the Republican Party by the balls. They give a little squeeze and the high pitched hysterical screeching starts. But hey, stuff happens.

    Hmmm…

You can thank the 2nd Amendment for securing your 1st amendment right to write the gobbledygook you post. But don’t worry, the socialist state of California is doing what it can to undermine your freedom to protect your family and home.

Hey Yobo, The NRA undermines the freedom to live from gun manufacturers tyranny.

2nd Amendment was written about Militias…

“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

(notice it is a single sentence)

“This is a matter of vital importance to the public safety … While we recognize that assault-weapon legislation will not stop all assault-weapon crime, statistics prove that we can dry up the supply of these guns, making them less accessible to criminals.”

“I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen for sporting, for hunting and so forth, or for home defense. But I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for defense of a home.”

“Well, I think there has to be some gun control.”

Yes, the hysterical screeching from the left against inanimate objects gets pretty ear piercing. And totally predictable.

  5. snoplease says - Posted: October 23, 2015

Key wording at the end of the sentence though.

“…SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.” It means what it means. Do you also interpret the 1st Amendment the way you see fit?? NO! It means what it means FREEDOM OF SPEECH, it shall not be infringed upon. Our countrys forefathers wrote the constitution and its amendments that way for a reason. Because they KNEW there would be people that would try to infringe upon our rights. Republicans and Democrats…its two sides of the same coin, both sides trying to take away your writes.

Same old anti NRA/FOX news/republican bs here. As I’ve said several times before, what is your solution? It’s really easy to say “guns suck” “NRA sucks” Lets hear some ideas here about the gun debate. And yes, I’ve posted many of my ideas in some of the other articles here.

Gun worship freaks are so paranoid of everything.” Oh the horror, my gun will save me from all those bad boys out there trying to take away my freedom, oh the horror…we need a gun to save our sorry asses from each other.” Paranoid freaks and gun pointers. All over compensating for small parts .

I laugh whenever they say that guns dont kill people. Its just an inanimate object. That logic is just like cigarettes not killing people, smoking does. Dogzilla logic, go figure!!!

Snoplease, so what about the rights of the 20 kids murdered at sandy hook? I guess the guys right to have access to all those weapons and kill with them trumped those kids right to live? No one seems to have an answer to that funny too how all those right to lifers people that think their 2nd amendment. Right is so vital that all guns at all costs trumps the lives of innocent gun violence victims. The right to life only exists as a fetus but once they are born they are fair game to gun weilding whackos. Ya, and then there are those deemed unfit to have a gun but somehow they still get them byhook orby crook. I dont buy any of this hypocrisy. Destroy all guns!!!!!

  8. snoplease says - Posted: October 23, 2015

^^^^^^more nonsense talk without any solutions. Your hysterical rant of your blind fear of guns does nothing to help the problem bats. Do you have anything to contribute to the debate then hysterical nonsense? If not, you do nothing to help come to a sensible solution to the debate. You only poke the stick to encourage more adversary to both sides. Stop doing that. Please.

  9. Hmmm... says - Posted: October 23, 2015

Solution # 1…label the NRA a terrorist organization.

  10. snoplease says - Posted: October 23, 2015

Label it whatever you want. It’s NEVER going away, neither are the guns EVER.
So then…here we are again, an anti-gun slur, two steps back…Any solutions anti-gunners? Theres already been plenty of anti-gun legislation in CA, it doesn’t work. Are we ready to try something else?

  11. Dogula says - Posted: October 24, 2015

Nah. Whenever a plan doesn’t work for the left, they just do the same thing, MORE.
“Well, it didn’t work because we didn’t charge enough taxes. . .” “It didn’t work because we needed MORE regulation.” Socialism didn’t work in Russia because they did it wrong. WE will do it better because we’re smarter!

  12. Hmmm... says - Posted: October 24, 2015

“Nah. Whenever a plan doesn’t work for the left, they just do the same thing, MORE.”

Here comes the right wing gun nuts. accusing others of the very thing THEY ARE DOING:

The solution to gun violence…more guns.

We’re number 1! (except for about a clipful who are full of #2.

    “America….F*ckyeah!”

I know…let’s give teachers guns. What could possibly go wrong?

Sno. California gun safety laws have worked. After the Cleveland Elementary Shooting in Stockton in 1989 then the Pettit & Martin Shooting in 1993, California passed a number of gun safety laws. Since, 1993 gun deaths have dropped some 56% and is much better then the National average.

Also. In California, in 2014 there were 1,697 homicides versus 4,095 in 1993.

All the while, California population has been growing.

So, what do you propose we try now, arming Californian’s with flamethowers?

Dog. The writings of Ayn Rand and the movie Mad Max are fiction. Please, if you are going to wait for Libertarian Nirvana, The Rapture or Judgement Day, don’t do it next to your keyboard.
