Meyers resident Mikey Sheehan died Nov. 21 from injuries he sustained in a vehicle accident the week before.

Sheehan was driving by himself Nov. 14 in Truckee on Highway 89 south of Sagehen when his vehicle drifted off the side of the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle rolled and he was ejected, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Sheehan died at Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Sheehan worked at Freshies in South Lake Tahoe as a waiter, and as the beer and wine buyer.

Music was a passion of his. He was also a huge Giants fan, though he kept his loyalty to the Orioles since Baltimore is where he hailed from.

Sheehan is survived by his parents, David J. and Elizabeth A. Sheehan; sister Kerry DiBiagio (Mark); niece and nephew Molly and Anthony DiBiagio; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family, who are in Maryland, had a private service and interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236.

Sad to hear of his passing. I only knew him through Freshies, but he was a nice, friendly, outgoing guy, I always looked forward to him stopping by our table for a quick chat.

I’m so sad to hear this. As a long time Freshies patron, my heart hurts. My condolences to Mike’s family and the Freshies family. Mike always acknowledged me with a smile and a greeting….didnt matter if i was alone at the counter or with friends or family in a group….if i was his customer at that moment or not….he took the time to make eye contact and say hi….He will be missed. So sorry for your loss.

Very sorry to hear of Mikey’s passing. I knew him from both sides of the counter, as a customer where I was a server and as a customer of his at Freshies. He was always friendly and gave superb service. There will forever be a void at Freshies but he won’t ever be forgotten. Condolences to Mikey’s family and friends RIP

I am so sorry that this very nice human being has left this world. He was always pleasant and never seemed to have his feathers ruffled under pressure. It is still surreal to me that he is gone. I know that my first time back at Freshies after their month long closure is going to include tears even though I will attempt to hold them back. My condolences to Mike’s family and Eric and Melodie.
