Highway 50 is expected to be open by 8pm Tuesday after large boulders fell from the mountainside.

Julie Threewit of Meyers described it as “significant.” Her 4Runner was barely able to make it past the rock debris. She said two rocks were the size of a small car.

The slide occurred about 6pm April 12 just beyond the split for Echo Road.

“I have great respect for the stretch of highway,” Threewit told Lake Tahoe News.

According to the California Highway Patrol, no vehicles were damaged nor people injured.
