Bridging Tahoe’s bear selfie problem
By Benjamin Spillman, Reno Gazette-Journal
It’s about to get more difficult for careless Lake Tahoe selfie-seekers to strike a pose with their second favorite subjects.
That’s because a private, non-profit organization is raising cash to upgrade a South Shore boardwalk that’s seen a swarm of selfie-shooters seeking shots with local bears.
The Tahoe Fund, an organization that raises money for conservation, recreation and education causes around Lake Tahoe, is seeking to raise $28,000 for the project at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center.
The money would pay to raise, widen and add railings to a boardwalk that overlooks Taylor Creek.
A grizzly bear mauled a 37 yr old bicyclist to death two days ago up by Glacier Ntl park…he was riding on a trail with a friend.
Two year old boy dragged to his death by an alligator… from his father’s feet in a pond at Florida Disney Park…
THIS IS THE HIGH SIERRA not a petting zoo people.
Insanity! How about we close the roads, send em all back! About 50% of them have no logic, have absolutely no common sense, couldn’t survive a minute without their I Phones. Nature is paying a price for the greed bringing these thoughtless tourists here. Tahoe used to be innocent, semi quiet. Greed has taken over.
