The Eldorado National Forest announced this week that the partial closure of Sunset Campground in Union Valley for the protection of a bald eagle nest and eaglets has been lifted.

After intensive monitoring by wildlife biologists, it has been determined that the eaglets have now fledged the nest.

Campsites 1-61 in Sunset Campground will be available to the public on a first come, first served basis until they are re-added to the reservation system on Aug. 16. At this time, these sites will be available online. There are a total of 131 campsites at Sunset Campground.
