slt fire·       South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue’s Brush 1 returned home Sept. 1 from the Chimney Fire in San Luis Obispo. SLTFR participates in the statewide mutual aid system. The city receives full reimbursement for its participation. The department calls back firefighters on their scheduled time off to provide normal coverage within the city.

·       El Dorado County Superior Court is extending hours for Small Claims Night Court services. Night court in South Lake Tahoe will be the third Monday in November, March and July from 5:30-6:30pm.

·          Douglas County Minden Library will be showing free movies geared toward adults and teens: Sept. 15 “Me Before You,” Sept 29 “A Beautiful Mind,” Oct. 13 “Rear Window,” an Oct. 27 “Insidious.” All shows begin at 2pm, with popcorn and beverages provided.

·       Nevada State Park rangers are leading a 2.2 mike hike around Spooner Lake for people and their dogs on Sept. 12 at 9am. Dogs must be on a leash and be social. Bring enough water for dogs and be prepared to pick up after her. Space is limited. Call 775.749.5980. The event is free; however park entry fees apply: $8 per vehicle for Nevada residents, $10 for non-residents.

·       The Tahoe Rim Trail Association on Oct. 11 is celebrating its 35th year of stewarding the TRT as well as the 15th anniversary of the original 165-mile opening. The event is at the Toyiabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley from 5-8pm. Go online to purchase the $50 tickets.
