TRYP is providing a nice service by making taped candidate interviews available to our community. Unfortunately they’ve forgotten a segment of our population, a larger one than they probably realize—those of us who are hearing impaired. The most appropriate solution, obviously, would be closed captioning. Typed transcripts, while a less than ideal second choice, would also be welcome.

TYRP? Everyone on the planet knows TYRP?…3,300 towns in 147 countries read this…NOT EVERYONE knows what these letters represent in this context…

Tahoe?…hmm since they’re reading Lake Tahoe News
    Y?….hmm
    Regional?….hmmmm
    Plan??…hmm

You can’t hear…well people around the planet do not automatically know what all these letters stand for…you need to splain them before using them as words.

The acronym that the article referenced was TRYP, for Tahoe Regional Young Professionals.

The acronym referenced in Ms. Smith’s reprimand of Lake Tahoe News (LTN) was TYPR.

Robin Smith: Perhaps you can “splain” what TYPR stands for so all the people that read LTN in the 3,300 towns in 147 countries will know what those letters represent in this context.

    Jackie,

Thank you for your comment. We contacted TRYP and they have since added closed captioning to the videos.

Thank you for bringing this to everyone’ attention.
