It looks like it will be a white Christmas in Tahoe after all.

A winter storm warning is in effect from 10am Friday to 4pm Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, between 8 and 16 inches of snow will fall at lake level, with 1 to 2 feet above 7,000 feet.

White-out conditions are expected on mountain passes.

Winds will be from the southwest at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts near 40 mph. The ridge tops could see 100 mph gusts.

The sun should return on Christmas Day.
