It’s a snow day at Zephyr Cove and Whittell High schools, as well as for Truckee Tahoe Unified. Incline Village schools are on a two-hour delay.

This morning high winds and blowing snow are making the Sierra passes problematic for drivers. Expect white-out conditions at times. Click on the state icons on the home page of Lake Tahoe News for current road information.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until Monday at 4am for the Tahoe-Truckee area. Several feet of snow are expected at the lake and even more at higher elevations. Winds will be strongest Saturday into Sunday, with ridge tops possibly hitting 140 mph. On Sunday waves on Lake Tahoe could be as high as 5 feet.

Weather will impact ski resorts. Be sure to check what is open before going out. The Sierra Avalanche Center says the danger level for Friday is considerable.
