Cal Neva, the legendary but faded Lake Tahoe resort once owned by Frank Sinatra, is closing its casino temporarily.

Canyon Capital Realty Advisors, the firm that has owned the Cal Neva since last spring, said Wednesday that the casino will close Wednesday. Canyon said it is in discussions with several licensed gambling operators, and the plan is to reopen the casino by year’s end.

The rest of the property, including restaurants and a showroom named for Sinatra, will remain open.

Yes Alex ,I do believe Frank at one time owned the Cal-Neva.

When I came to Tahoe back in the late 60’s, I cooked for Frank and the Rat Pack both at Harrah’s and the Villa.
I use to Hear them talk about the early years of their careers,They had many stories that involved the Neva. Was a place for Him to bring his personal friends to a classic place,Relax ,have fun, entertain at a personal level.
Frank and Sammy were the most human of the bunch.
I never got to see Franks dressing room but Sammy had 88 suits, 88 pairs of shoes to match ,had a display of different colored eyes.He was a real loving person.Loved partying!

To this day, I think Frank,Sammy, were one the Greatest entertainers that ever worked the Joints (slag for casinos). They both truly loved doing shows, meeting people.
They had their private habits like all show people do,the up’s ,downs, of the media but really they didn’t care.
They were American Icons,Tahoe use to be filled to the gills with business, good shows, priced right, lots of money, great tippers, good table games limits, and the slots were loose enough to win cash to pay for the ride up, lodging, It was the little Vegas in the Mountains.

Hi Macoche, Come guy! Frank was considered a front by the commission in later days. Frank lost his license when MOMO was exposed on a “visit” to CAl-Neva.A big Scam.
MoMo Salvatore Giancana AKA Sam “Mooney” Giancana. He really scammed Phyllis McGuire of the McGuire Sisters.New York Daily News headlined “Phyllis McGuire sues Harry Winston Jewelers, Claims replaced diamonds with paste.Yeah right, gifts from Salvatore? I doubt that you know how tight Frank was with Charlie Lucky Luciano,Frank Costello (Castiglia) aka “ThePrime Minister of Crime.” in the good old days, enough!! I have almost every CD and old LPs of FS some SD and DM. Sorry for the late reply, cataract surgery.
