Donner Party subject of free talk in Truckee
“Saving the Donner Party” by Richard F. Kaufman tells the story of how the storm of the century in 1846 trapped 81 men, women, and children in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and how they were saved.
Focusing on the rescue of the Donner Party, Kaufman will join the Sierra State Parks Foundation for a free evening at Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center on May 13 where he will speak about his research and book “Saving the Donner Party”.
A $5 donation is suggested.
