Fire investigator Ryan Elliott is happy to talk about how shooting targets can lead to wildfires.

Unfortunately, the conversation often happens after the fire has already started.

“Almost every individual that has started a fire shooting has said to us, ‘I didn’t think I could start a fire shooting’,” said Elliott, an investigator for the Bureau of Land Management. “Most people don’t think it can happen until it happens to them.”
