A first — Burning Man ‘man’ being built in Reno
By Jenny Kane, Reno Gazette-Journal
Inside a 1940s bottling factory in the Biggest Little City, a man is being built.
He’s going to be 40 feet tall, made of wood and he’ll be a giant pile of ashes in a month.
Although Burning Man, the annual arts ballyhoo scheduled for Aug. 27 to Sept. 4, is based out of San Francisco, the most important component of Black Rock City is being puzzled together in Reno for the first time ever.
For the past two and a half months, the brick and glass bottling plant built in 1940 as an expansion to the long-shuttered Reno Brewing Co. has housed the construction of Burning Man’s central effigy.
