Gordon Yorke

A man who set off to the hike the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail was found deceased not far from where he started.

Gordon Yorke, 56, was found Sept. 4 by search and rescue crews near Freel Peak.

No foul play is expected. An autopsy will be conducted.

The Canadian was hiking the trail alone. When family didn’t hear from him and he missed supply pick-ups, authorities were notified.

Teams from El Dorado and Douglas counties participated in the search.
