Smokey Bear talks about fire in Tahoe

Nearly all wildfires in the Tahoe Basin are human caused.

With a little help from Smokey Bear, locals and visitors learned about fire safety and prevention during Wildfire Awareness Week at Explore Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe this week.

“Smokey the Bear” is such a great way to learn fire safety. Smokey came to my grammar school for several years in a row, and gave the best information for us to learn by. I have never forgotten the message “Only you can prevent forest fires”. I’m almost 64. Smokey has taught four generations of our family. What a great bear!
