Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care unable to save bird with West Nile

The Mono County Health Department said a Hawk has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The Swainson’s Hawk was picked up near Topaz and taken to the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care in South Lake Tahoe , where it died on Aug. 24, Mono County Health Officer Richard O. Johnson said. The positive test was the first in Mono County this year.
