If the ski areas truly care so much about this legislation (they said they supported it) why don’t they make their own requirements for children to wear helmets just like they require ski/board retention devices? Government doesn’t need to make all the rules.

Isn’t it a law that kids have to wear a helmut riding a bike??
Life jackets while on a boat?
This is crazy. I agree with Dogwoman, but I think anything to protect our kids out there is the right path. Too many speedy snowboarders wiping out and running into people.
Even if it is not a law–All parents should see fit to strap a helmut on their kids.

Let’s simplify the whole question of childrens saftey.
How about everybody under the age of 18 wearing helmets anytime outside their homes.
Now we have one nice neat law that is simple to understand.
Who needs personal responibility when the government is there to take care of you.

I think this is fairly typical for a new law, to put the idea out there, but not enforce it for a couple years, gives people some time to get use to it.
