BLM forbids discharging guns in remote area of El Dorado County

The federal Bureau of Land Management, citing residents’ safety concerns, has issued an order temporarily prohibiting the discharge of firearms in Kanaka Valley, near the Pine Hill Preserve in western El Dorado County.
The restriction will remain in effect while a long-range management plan for the area is developed, according to a bureau news release.
Kanaka Valley came into federal ownership in February through a cooperative acquisition process with the federal Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, American River Conservancy and BLM. The 695-acre property links existing public and state lands, creating a continuous corridor.

The NRA is the specific safety concern
