USFS• U.S. Forest Service fire management officer Kit Bailey, in conjunction with local fire chiefs, has lifted the ban on residential burning in the Lake Tahoe Basin. To learn more about residential burning, local restrictions and permits, contact your local fire department or fire protection district.

• Restaurants participating in the inaugural Lake Tahoe Restaurant Week report an average 23 percent increase in the number of guests and a 20 percent increase in revenue, compared to Labor Day week 2009.

• Fall Cleanup On The Run is Oct. 23 from 9am to noon. Ski Run BID members, Friends of the BID and members of the community are encouraged to roll up their sleeves, grab some gloves and help business and property owners beautify Ski Run Boulevard. Volunteers will meet at 9am at the Blue Angel Cafe (1132 Ski Run Blvd., South Tahoe). Blue Angel Cafe will provide a free lunch for volunteers.
