Funny thing happened on the way to the Shingle Springs casino. In the Good Old Days of supes Mark John and Ray, the SH residents were in an uproar over what is now RED Hawk. Primary reason! Our little private community will be over run with traffic, with no direct access to the casino. Good Old Mark made an all expense paid trip to Washington DC and plead their case, he saved the day. End of story! Until the housing boom hit. Those opposed hit the jackpot sold out realizing the fix was in WASHINGTON.Tom, Karl and Jack a paved the way from Deep in the Heart of Texas to sleepy Shingle Springs. Some lose some win.

Alex, John was a paid consultant for Red Hawk Development Co., which built Red Hawk Casino. Actually on their payroll to help smooth their plans thru the County and State obstacles. When asked about this, he simply turns away. Go figure.

Steve,I wonder how many county supes named John helped that John smooth the way. The good old days of the Smoothie.
I wonder if the Placerville “Mountain Demagogue” ran a story on this.
