MINERAL COUNTY, Colo. — A ski patrol supervisor was killed in an avalanche at Wolf Creek Ski Area Monday morning, authorities said.

The avalanche happened inside the boundaries of the ski area, which is located near Pagosa Springs in southern Colorado, at about 10:30 a.m.

The area had received more than a foot of new snow over 24-hours.

“Wolf Creek Ski Area will closed today, November 22nd, due to the fatality of a staff member,” said a message on the ski area’s web site. “Lifts will begin operating tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.”

Postings on Wolf Creek’s Facebook page identified the victim as Scott Kay.

Dude, have you ever BEEN to Wolf Creek? It is TINY. And this early in the season there probably weren’t more than 2 dozen people wanting to ski there anyway.
Why are you always looking for an excuse to diss Heavenly and our town in general? If it’s all so bad, either make some positive changes or pick another place to live.

Dogwoman … couldn’t have said it better and thanks!

Hardto … I strongly second Dogwoman and add that Heavenly hosted an amazing memorial for Bob that honored his years of Patrolling and citizenship in SLT. Don’t pull such a good man into your negative rant. A business is simply an entity. The human element comes from great people.

Whwn Bill Harrah died they remained opened. Like the Mafia say’s “It’s not personal, It’s business” HMLT, cute initials as you are a computer guy savvay in the ways, try taking the caps off your comp unless you like to yell all the time to make a point. Yelling will not make what you say any more real. Nice one DW
