Search is on for man who never made it to S. Lake Tahoe

VACAVILLE — A spattering of cell phone calls are all family members and police have to go on as they try to find Jose Ruben Valdez. Valdez, 57, was supposed to have arrived in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday when he left his Anaheim home. But, he never arrived.
Since then, Valdez has called family members several times on his phone, telling them he’s lost. One of those phone calls came from Vacaville, the others, he didn’t say where he was. Apparently, Valdez has dementia, and family members say he often gets confused or lost.
