On March 17, officers of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department will conduct a specialized enforcement effort focusing on motorists who violate pedestrians’ right of way in crosswalks, as well as those motorists who ignore the flashing red lights displayed on local school buses while picking up or delivering children.

Pedestrians, particularly children, pose one of the highest safety risks related to traffic safety. The spontaneity of children can be particularly unpredictable around traffic, and pedestrians are the most vulnerable to injury or death when involved in a collision with a motor vehicle.
