The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $2,500 reward in connection with what is believed to be the intentional poisoning of a dog in the Meyers area near South Lake Tahoe.

After the dog died, it was taken to a veterinarian, who thought it had been poisoned with rodent bait laced with strychnine.

If anyone has more information on this, even the humane society, it would be greatly appreciated. Most everyone in Meyers have dogs that they also love and cherish. I would like to be able to let my neighbors know what had gone on and what to be cautious of. Meyers is a peaceful place to live. Even if the dog was a barker or the neighbors had a tiff, there could have been something else done to fix any issues.

My dogs ate coyote bait when I was a teenager and they dissapeared and found their skeletons under a burn pile while riding my horse. And later, my Queensland Heeler was poisoned by neighboring ranchers. It was the most awful thing to endure! Not only do these animals have seizures, but they are literally bleeding on the inside.

I hope they catch this crazy person!

Might it be possible that someone was just trying to rid there yard of Rodents and the dog got into it and it was not done on purpose ??

True and anyone who sets out poison should notify their neighbors. Children are at risk too.

No offense but leash laws and yards with a fence do have a purpose.

Even a mouse poison that mice eats, bring outside dies and a bird eats mouse, dog eats dead bird..it’s a food change poison, says it right on the can under: “Warning”!
