A mother and son are in El Dorado County jail on heroin charges, which, if found guilty of, could lead to their deportation because neither one has been living in South Lake Tahoe legally.

South Shore narcotics officers had been working undercover, which led them to arrest Jose Ruben Gomez Gonzalez, 25, of South Lake Tahoe after he allegedly sold them heroin.

He was busted July 15 on the third sale, according to Cmdr. Jeff Catchings with South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team.

A search warrant at his residence in the 3700 block of Paradise Avenue turned up more heroin, cash and a loaded handgun.

“It appeared he was packaging for sale in (his mom’s) room,” Catchings said.

In Genoveva Gonzalez De Leon’s bedroom officers said they found three safes. One had $4,700 in cash, a 9mm handgun and heroin.

Between the three buys and what was found at the house, Catchings said a quarter pound of heroin with a street value of $9,000 was confiscated.

De Leon, 41, of South Lake Tahoe faces a charge of possession of heroin for sale. Gonzalez was arrested on the same charge plus sales of heroin and transportation.

Because of their illegal status, immigration has placed a hold on them at the South Lake Tahoe jail.

Also living in the 800-square-foot residence were two other adults and two toddlers. Child Protective Services has been notified. Catchings said at this time it is not believed the mother of the two children was involved in the drug activity.

Okay. I know Bongo is going to have a field day with this, but here goes:
I know the legal population does a lot of drugs here in Tahoe. But it does seem like a too large proportion of drug SALES involves illegals. The crimes start with illegal entry into our country then escalate from there. Maybe it’s time to start red-tagging their ears like we do with bears when we send them home.

dogwoman. . .why stop at illegal entry when a person commits a crime and instead red-tag ANYONE who commits ANY crime!

  3. tahoeadvocate says - Posted: July 19, 2011

dogwoman— I do like your exageration about the ear tagging. Just the fact they broke the law to be in our country should be treated as such a major crime it deters others.

Throw the book at these scoundrels. Irrespective of what country they’re from and which language they speak.

Dogwoman, the white people sell oxycontin, which is prescribed to them by white doctors. And Oxycontin is much more available than heroin to most people.
If white people didn’t want so many drugs the brown people wouldn’t have much of a market would they.

Also the CIA imported tons, literally, tons, of cocaine in the US and helped spawn the crack epidemic that ravaged the inner cities.
Some people have theories about our involvement in Afghanistan and heroin imports. I haven’t read anything I find very convincing but there are some interesting numbers. Like the heroin production in Afghanistan going up after the US came in. And effectively all of the heroin in the US starts with the poppies in Afghanistan.
Which is why I place little to no blame on brown people.
The US imports tons of cocaine into the country to pay for a war.
A non white person sells some drugs to pay for their addiction or their living expenses.

Had the white people in the government gone to jail for their drug sales, how many people would cheer?

I’d cheer for anyone getting busted for breaking the law! White, Brown, Black, whatever!! Whatever someone thinks about drug consumption, it is illegal to sell drugs and not right for anyone to think they’re above the law!

As far as the the government being involved in the importation of narcotics, well I cannot explain how in a society where individuals are so monitored and tracked, both overtly and covertly, so much drug dealing and consumption can take place? But in the world of Wikileakes and the Pentagon Papers, you’d think if the govt. was somehow involved, there’d be some concrete proof of it?!

    You have an addiction.
To exclamation points. More than 50% of your sentences end with one, probably 75%. Honestly, it makes you come across as a tool. This is an intervention. We all love you and you need to love yourself and stop.
And yes there is a lot of evidence that the CIA, under the direction of the Reagan administration, imported a lot of cocaine into this country. Cocaine, transported using CIA operated airplanes.
So the government throws people in jail for possessing and selling drugs, while being a large importer.
Also, who made the real money (and still does) from the cocaine explosion in the 80s?
The banks, owned and operated by white people.

You, The Conservation Robot, have an addiction to making personal accusations and then never offering any evidence for your accusations. An example is your accusation about the CIA and Reagan Admin! You let it slip once, The Conservation Robot, that there are others who help you! You should have one of them come up with some concrete evidence to support your accusations! Though I must admit, your obsession with me and how choose to convey my opinions is flattering!!

Happily, I made a contribution to Kae for her work on Lake Tahoe News. This morning I got $40 worth of entertainment value reading these comments.

Educate an immature, irresponsible adolescent bent on never growing up and you create the arrogant ramblings of the “Conservation Robot”. He reminds me very much of one of my sons before a family and the real world of being a responsible citizen, father and bread winner changed him into someone we enjoyed being around.
Belittling anyone who disagrees with your views used to be his favorite ploy.
I know you’ll never change Robot, but at least be aware of how silly and not as clever as you think, your know-it-all rants are.

Miss Tahoe knows me personally and her characterization of me as an irresponsible person. She would also never go so far as to belittle someone, labeling them as immature, irresponsible, and bend on never growing up, instead of commenting on their opinions and engaging in a discussion.
Because she is not a hypocrite. /s

*sorry, left out ‘is highly accurate in the first sentence.

If I were trying to talk to someone who said everything as an exclamation I would walk away.
Also, the link between the Reagan administration, the CIA, cocaine, and the Contras in Nicaragua is pretty well documented. I never believed it and thought it was just part of a conspiracy theory to trash Reagan. I discredited it for years until I actually looked into it with the help of a friend.
The government sold tons of cocaine. Deal with it.
