Brian Jagger, who served as treasurer for Placer County District Attorney Scott Owens’ election campaign last year, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of wire fraud in a scheme to embezzle more than $20,000 from three campaign accounts of candidates who ran for political offices in Placer County in 2010.

Jagger, 32, of Roseville entered the plea in federal court in Sacramento.

The other two victims were county Auditor-Controller Katherine Martinis and county Supervisor Kirk Uhler, said Lt. Mark Reid, Placer County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

According to court documents, Jagger worked for each candidate and had signature authority over each one’s campaign bank account.

Jagger used his position to convert their campaign funds to his own use, according to a federal Department of Justice news release.
