S. Tahoe man in prison for nearly killing his ex denied parole
Steve Wasserman, the South Lake Tahoe man in prison for nearly slashing his ex-girlfriend to death, will spend at least another seven years in prison.
He was up for parole this week, but was denied. The parole board said he could try again in seven years. The victim, Susie Rizk Laney, had hoped the next chance Wasserman would have for parole would be in 15 years.
On Oct. 25, 2005, Wasserman nearly killed Laney with a 2-foot-long Samurai sword. Their daughter who was 4 at the time watched as he tried to kill her at their South Lake Tahoe home.

Thank goodness he isn’t getting out. Not the 15 years expected, but 7 is better than 0. Keep the faith Susie!
Please note, she was never married to that psycho, and the headline should state “prison” not “jail”. Good to know that wasserman remains behind bars, and I have faith that this 7 years is a beginning to a VERY long prison sentence for him being denied over and over again.
Garrido got out quick, so why shouldn’t Steve be treated with the same “perole insanity for very, very violent criminals.”
Animals like Steve belong in the zoo /prison forever!!!!!
We’re committed to seeing that he stays in prison. This family has amazing resolve.
