Awards in six categories were given this month to businesses and/or individuals the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce believes have made notable contributions to the sustainability of and quality of life in the area.

Winners were:

Experience: Marcus Ashley Gallers, owned by Ashley and Marcus Matilla.

Entrepreneur: Becky Bell, owner and creator of Tahoe Arts & Mountain Culture.

Small Green Business: 968 Park Hotel.

Large Green Business: Embassy Suites.

Customer Service: Margaret Shimono, manager of the Floral Department at Safeway in Round Hill.

Public Agency Service Award: CHP Officer Jeff Gartner.
