Invasive smallmouth bass gain foothold in Lake Tahoe

Invasive smallmouth bass have become established in Lake Tahoe, posing what researchers call a “much more ferocious threat” to native fish than anything that has come before.
“We’ve had reports of smallmouth bass before, but now we’ve 100-percent confirmed its presence in Lake Tahoe,” said Kevin Thomas, environmental scientist at the California Department of Fish and Game. “The population could explode and put more stress on the native fish.”
The finding was announced Monday by the University of Nevada, Reno. It came during a UNR project with Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which removed 5,000 invasive fish from the near-shore aquatic zone.
At least the crawfish population will go down… Sounds like another good sport fish… What’s the problem? Are you native? Things die off cause they can’t adapt to stress… Survival of the fittest in action. We have front row seats… There is nothing natural about this man modified environment. Think playin god and spending our tax money will help that? This stuff is not sustainable, Removing fish forever… Climate change, algae, Invasive species… We cant control meteorology… No wonder clarity is declining..
BTW… Leave my rainbows and browns alone.. The introduction of the cutthroat is a waste of time…
Anyone know exactly what the gill net trauler boat is used for that is berthed at the Tahoe Keys Marina???
