Virginia City cemetery offering tours as fundraiser
Funtime Theater, a nonprofit organization, in conjunction with the Comstock Cemetery Foundation is putting on “Voices of the Past,” an interactive look into life on the Comstock.
Widow of the Silver Terrace will take people on a walk through the Virginia City cemetery. Visitors will have a chance to see ghosts of people who are actually buried there come to life.
Dates are Sept. 24, Sept. 25, Oct. 1, Oct. 2, Oct. 8 and Oct. 9, from 10am-1pm.
The cost is $15 and this is a fundraiser for the Comstock Cemetery Foundation.

That should be FUN. I’ve wandered through that cemetery a couple of times and it is fascinating!
Cemeteries are wonderful places to learn more about history. They’re outdoor archives. Sometimes, the only written record left of an individual. Silver Terrace Cemetery is fascinating – “dogwoman”. I think I check this event out. Hope it is respectable and not “hokey”. The Comstock Cemetery Foundation sure could use the funds. Come to Genoa and I’d love to take you on not only a tour of the Genoa Cemetery but the town as well. GenoaHistoricGhostTours.com
What a wonderful and fun event!
I have had the opportunities to walk around this cemetery for decades, and it is always an adventure each time I visit.
A fun fact….just who is in this cemetery? All the ‘people’ have been moved (or so it was reported) three times…this being the final resting place. (But is it for the tombstones only?)
Take a tour at night if you can. You might meet up with ‘residents’ who are enjoying an evening stroll as well.
Thank you Kim. I wrote down the website and hope to take you up on that soon! Maybe this fall, when it gets more ghostly!
Great! I look forward to meeting you and let me know how the Silver Terrace Cemetery tour is, in the event you get to go and I don’t.
