Opinion: Habitat for Humanity volunteers working the South Shore

To the community,

The South Lake Tahoe branch of Habitat for Humanity of El Dorado County had three projects this summer season. “A Brush with Kindness” is a program designed to help folks who cannot care for the exterior of their property. Minor repairs, paint and basic landscaping is provided, with the owners participation.

We have 20-plus volunteers available to help, and the local response to financial, services, and physical assistance is what makes the program work. Any donated funds are spent exclusively in South Lake Tahoe.

Thanks to all who helped.

Work will resume next spring, and we will be accepting applications until then.

Thank you for your great contribution for those in need in our community. While helping individuals, this also improves the look of entire entire neighborhoods. What an uplift! Also, it introduces teens who work on this project, a positive experience in community service, a great way to form a lifetime habit of helping others!
