South Tahoe police explorers bring home hardware

South Lake Tahoe police explorers brought home eight trophies from the Central Coast Law Enforcement Explorer Competition in Paso Robles.

The explorer team of Joey Acker, Jose Silva,Allison Roberts, Hector Vasquez and Chelsie Tate last month competed in 15 events against approximately 600 explorers from all over California, Arizona and Nevada.

The South Lake Tahoe police explorers’ awards:

* Crime Scene Investigation, first place

* Tug-a-War, second place

* Night Time Suspicious Person Investigation, third place

* Hazardous Response, third place

* Crisis Negotiations, fourth place

* Bicycle Cycle Course, fourth place

* Night Time Traffic Stop. fifth place

* Fifth Best Explorer Post overall (48 teams in competition).

Each explorer has hopes of obtaining a career in law enforcement. The opportunity to train and compete helps prepare them for the police academy.
