CalFire will be down staffing its two engines in the Lake Tahoe Basin (Station No. 5 in South Lake Tahoe and Station No. 55 in Carnelian Bay)starting Oct. 17 for winter.

Staffing levels are sufficient to respond to local emergencies and CalFire is prepared to call back additional resources if fire weather conditions change.

Excuse me, why are we wasteing our taxes on a redundant fire department? Do we really need Cal Fire?

CalFire is very important geo….they cover the areas of wilderness city and county fire crews aren’t prepared for. They go all over the state at a moment’s notice to help other areas with wildfires.

This is a normal cutback…the crews go on unemployment until the spring. That brings up a thought…would we rather pay for them to be unemployed or get a service of value for our money?
