A South Lake Tahoe man is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 31 on murder charges.

Brad Macewan, 55, is accused of killing his roommate Patrick Lee Rego, 52, at their South Tahoe residence. Macewan was originally arrested in July, but was released until the District Attorney’s Office believed enough evidence was presented to file charges.

The court hearing will be in Placerville. It’s possible at that time the presiding judge will decide if the case should be tried in Tahoe.

If found guilty, Macewan could face 25 years to life in prison.
