After 31 years I think our town has decided to light up for the holidays and winter season! Not cigarettes of any kind but their businesses along the corridor from Meyers and the amazing welcome tree to the beautiful and spectacular tree at the outlet curve and then our community complex thanks to Bob Dodds and Liberty Energy! Harrahs, Horizon and MontBleu did it so much better than last year as well. All in all it seemed a bit of a unofficial competition or spirit prevailed on its own and block after block had more glitter than ever!
Now I am sure those of you that saw no purpose or value will grumble about the costs or some reasons to justify your lack of effort but there is little doubt those businesses that produced made a statement that was alive and well.
Next year perhaps a contest of some degree will create more interest and the “corporate” properties will get off their bags of cash and do something to give back to the street? I couldn’t help but imagine what it all would have looked like if there was a thick blanket of snow! Imagine it all with no signs of the Holidays as well as the lack of snow?
I personally thank all of you that cared to brighten the route I travel every day and especially at night on my way home!
